The libraries of the University of Florida are participating in an IMLS-funded demonstration project called "Cooperative Federal Depository Program" (CFDP) under the leadership of the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL). This program seeks to provide workable solutions to address the increasing cost of managing, preserving, and providing access to large collections of Federal government publications. A Center of Excellence (COE) is established by a library with a collection and related services focused on a specific Federal agency. This collection of digitized documents represents a portion of the University of Florida's George A. Smathers Library's Center of Excellence for the Panama Canal Commission and related agencies.
